The adventure then continues aboard the famous Gornergrat Railway, one of Switzerland's most iconic mountain railways. As the train steadily climbs the mountainside, you'll enjoy spectacular views overlooking Zermatt while your guide explains the history and engineering behind this remarkable railway. Opened in 1898, it was Switzerland's first electric rack railway and remains one of the country's great engineering achievements. Throughout the ascent, the landscape unfolds to reveal dramatic Alpine scenery, forests, mountain lakes, and increasingly impressive views of the Matterhorn.

Upon reaching Gornergrat at an elevation of 3,089 metres, you'll discover one of the most breathtaking viewpoints in the Swiss Alps. Surrounded by 29 peaks rising above 4,000 metres, the summit offers magnificent panoramas across glaciers and mountain ranges extending towards Italy and beyond. Your guide will point out the Matterhorn, one of the world's most recognizable mountains, along with the spectacular Monte Rosa massif and Dufourspitze, Switzerland's highest peak at 4,634 metres.
