Arriving in Vitznau marks the start of a tradition that has attracted visitors since the nineteenth century. Here, you'll board the Vitznau–Rigi Railway, a route that made history as Europe's first mountain rack railway. Opened in 1871, it transformed mountain travel by allowing ordinary travellers to reach heights that previously required hours of climbing.

At 1,752 metres above sea level, Mount Rigi provides one of the best natural viewpoints in central Switzerland.
